Delhi, September 23, 2015: METRO Cash & Carry India is all set to capitalise on its current success in the Delhi market, by opening a second wholesale outlet in the capital city. The new wholesale centre is slated to open on October 15, 2015, and will be located in Seelampur in East Delhi.
At about 78,000 square feet, METRO’s new Seelampur wholesale outlet is by far the largest cash-and-carry wholesale outlet of its kind in the city. Now refurbished to suit METRO’s specific requirements, the Seelampur premises were originally home to the Delhi operations of French retail giant Carrefour, which announced its exit from the Indian market in 2014.
METRO made its first foray into Delhi with its Shahdara wholesale centre, which opened in February 2012. In little over three years, METRO Cash & Carry India has nearly doubled its outlets, with the new Seelampur centre being the 19th in the country. Earlier last year, METRO had announced its plans to expand its network of distribution centres to 50 by 2020.
