Food Lovers Club and METRO Wholesale announce the 3rd edition of The Young Chefs’ Culinary Challenge in Bangalore A unique platform for young chefs from leading hotels and restaurants to demonstrate their culinary expertise

Bangalore, May 08, 2013: 34 young chefs from the top premium hotels and restaurants across Bangalore are preparing to participate in the 3rd edition of the ‘Produce to Plate - Young Chefs’ Culinary Challenge 2013’, which is set to kick off on May 08, 2013. Presented by the Food Lovers Club in partnership with METRO Wholesale, the Young Culinary Chefs’ Culinary Challenge 2013 is seen as an increasingly prestigious platform for talented and upcoming chefs from across hotels and restaurants in the city, to demonstrate their expertise in the professional kitchen.

Competing young chefs will be judged on their culinary creativity and technique by some formidable names in the Indian food scene, including among others, Chef Bela Rieck, Executive Chef, Sheraton at Brigade Gateway, Chef Amit Wadhawan, Executive Chef, The Oberoi, Chef Adrian Peter Mellor, Executive Chef, The Leela Palace Bangalore, Chef Manu Chandra, Executive Chef Olive Restaurants, Chef Ramasamy Selvaraju, Executive Chef, Vivanta by Taj - MG Road, Chef Gautam Chaudhry, Executive Chef, Hyatt MG Road Bangalore, Chef Vijaya Baskaran, Executive Chef, Le Meridien, Bangalore, Chef Vittorio Greco, Italian Masterchef, ITC Gardenia, Mr Chetan Kamani, Bailliage de Bangalore, Chaine des Rotisseurs and Mr. Kripal Amanna, Managing Editor & Publisher, Food Lovers magazine.

The 34 participants will undergo a series of challenges and eliminations on May 08 and 09, 2013, before the chosen contestants reach the final round in the last week of May. Winners will be awarded gold, silver and bronze awards along with citations and cheque award of Rs. 71,000/- (gold winner), Rs. 61,000/- (silver winner) and Rs. 51,000/- (bronze winner).

Last week, the participants in this year’s YCCC 2013s were at METRO Wholesale, Yeshwanthpur, to select the tools, cookware and ingredients they will need to create their culinary masterpieces as part of the competition.
