METRO Cash and Carry hosts the first Chef-o-logy for Delhi hospitality industry
New Delhi, March 14, 2012: METRO Cash and Carry India, the global leader in self-service business-to-business wholesale, organized the first Chef-o-logy, a customer connect program for Hotels, Restaurants and Caterers (HoReCa) of Delhi. This event was organized as part of the ongoing Culinary Art India 2012 and 27th Aahar International Food & Hospitality Fair. The event had Celebrity Chef Shaun Kenworthy present interesting cookery demonstrations and knowledge sharing exclusively for professionals of the Delhi hospitality sector.
METRO Chef-o-logy is an interactive platform where renowned chefs and food consultants, provide value-added services to the Hospitality industry on areas like thematic cuisine creation, food festivals and menu merchandising and knowledge sharing discussions. At the event Chef Shaun Kenworthy demonstrated various delectable and easy to make dishes for the audience at the event.
METRO and Culinary Art India also held Chefs Competitions showcasing live and display-based culinary competitions by individuals and teams from the leading hotels and restaurants of the country where most of the 350 culinary experts participating in the week long show whipped up some interesting dishes. The competition was held across various categories including – Individual Artistic Display, Individual Cold Display, Practical Cooking competition, and was judged by the industry’s most experienced professionals. The competition will be judged by some of the most experienced professionals in the sector. Winners of each of the categories will be announced on Friday, March 16th in a glittering award ceremony which will be attended by the who’s who of the industry.

METRO in Delhi
The first wholesale center of METRO Cash & Carry India in Delhi was opened in East Delhi in February 2012. This is the company’s tenth wholesale center in India. The company also works closely with local producers, suppliers and small and medium enterprises, as it sources a large part of its products locally. Moreover, each wholesale center creates 300 job (150 direct and 150 indirect) opportunities for local citizens.
